Essix Retainer
Essix Retainers are clear, removable plastic retainers used after clear aligners or braces to maintain teeth alignment.
They are thermoformed using German Technology. Smile Academy Essix Retainers are made with High Strength TPU foils to retain clarity over time.
These retainers are usually designed to last 12 to 24 months. Longevity depends on numerous factors including teeth grinding, frequency of use, patient care, oral hygiene and heat exposure.
Smile Academy provides free bracket and attachment removal. All our retainers are trimmed and polished by hand to ensure best quality.
Lead-time: 6 to 13 days
Tip: Order your Essix Retainer in sets of 2 or 3 to lower your cost.
Note: Essix Retainers may only last a couple of months for patients prone to grinding their teeth. In this case, we would recommend an occlusal splint instead.
Trims
Straight cut (recommended)
This trim offers better retention than scalloped trim and has better longevity.
They are typically trimmed about 1mm above the gingival margins.
Scallop cut
Aesthetically pleasing for the patient, while still maintaining retention throughout the entire arch.
Instructions For Use
For longer durability and more clarity over time, we recommend cleaning our Essix Retainers with clear aligner/retainer tablets, denture tablets or alternatively with an antibacterial liquid soap and a soft tooth brush.
You may also use an ultrasonic cleaner.
Do not use tooth paste as this can make the retainer cloudy and leave marks due to the abrasiveness of the paste.
